the
3-month coaching container

Work with me privately to completely transform your branding and marketing with psychology and language – so you're known for what you know, by the masses.

(Although this is a strategic partnership, you'll be set up to execute it expertly, too – with SOPs for your team members, and skills for your AI agents!)

You're not losing to better coaches.

You're losing to better branding and marketing.

You're good at what you do. Great, actually.

You're knowledgeable, skilled, gifted, and talented. (Probably even funny and hot.) And yet you're not the go-to authority in your space right now… even though, let's be honest, you should be.

You're more educated than your competition, more experienced than your competition… but still find yourself watching people who give half your value, get twice your reach.

The result? They're making more sales, and getting crazy, stupid opportunities that only serve to increase their reach still further. Book deals. TED Talks. Magazine features. TV appearances. Brand collabs. The list goes on and on.

And you know how it'll play out for them…

More sales. More reach. More sales. More reach. Again and again, over and over. Until the gap between you gets so wide there's no catching up.

But the only way to break the cycle is to actually just… break the cycle. To make a decision, and a commitment, to get ahead of the curve while you still have the chance.

The way you achieve that?

Through psycholinguistic branding and marketing. Work with me to learn the exact strategies and tactics I've tried, tested, and proven to work inside your favourite coaches' businesses – and for Fortune 500 companies like.

We’ll make use of my proprietary framework, The Distinctive Communication Method™ to elevate your brand positioning, persona, messaging, and verbal identity, as well as your marketing so you can attract, nurture, and convert more people.

That’s how you step into your next level as a coach.

does any of this sound familiar?

  • You're creating content for social media, but not seeing any engagement, never mind any growth, from it.
  • You're trying to give value to warm people up, but somehow seem to be losing more trust than you earn.
  • People barely visit your website or sales pages… and when they do, no one's checking out. Your launches are flopping. Your funnel isn't performing. And you can't seem to figure out why.
  •
You've trialled a bunch of things, but only gotten as far as error:

  • You've jumped on trends, but didn't get any traction. Ran ads, but saw no ROI.
  • You've hired the best in the business – copywriters, designers – but still didn't get the lift you expected. And all the Claude skills you tried, just got you more of the same.
  • You've joined masterminds, done what your peers are, and watched them get results from the exact same things that didn't work for you.
  •
So now…

  • You're starting to wonder what other people have that you don't, and whether you can actually do this.
  • You obviously want to hold the vision and trust the process. But that's easier said than done when literally nothing's working at all.
  • Which is why you're debating whether you should stay in business but pivot, or dissolve the company altogether and go and get a job.
  •

If you resonated with one, some, or all of the above – you aren't alone, I promise.

Literally everyone I've ever worked with has felt this way, from the old timers whose businesses had declined, to the newcomers whose hadn't grown.

That's because becoming a category of one is harder now than it's ever been.

The people who achieved that by going first have now been copied, and have a bunch of competitors of their own.

And the people who haven't yet are struggling to be seen as anything other than a commodity – because it's not just the market that's saturated now, it's also the niches, too.

But it's still possible to set yourself apart, if you leverage deeper psychology and richer language.
Work with me to stand out, so you can blow tf up.

imagine this:

  1. You wake up to find you've gone viral overnight, because you finally know what makes a message contagious. Your following just keeps growing, because your content is that locked in.

  2. Your inbox is full of people telling you they've never felt more seen – like you're speaking directly to them. And they sell themselves to you, because they know you're that good; you can work with anyone you want.

  3. As a result, you're closing deals in the DMs that used to take a 45-minute sales call, three follow-up emails, and a pep talk with your coach to feel okay about chasing people (or not being chosen by them).

  4. And now you're so fully booked – with a waitlist that just keeps growing and rates so high you thought would’ve outpriced people – that you're thinking of moving from 1:1 to 1:many, or productising your services entirely to keep up with the market demand.

  5. Your funnels yield such high returns now, that when you want a cash injection, you can just up your ad spend. And because you have so many automated up-, down-, and cross-sells, your AOV, RP and MRR metrics are through the roof.

  6. You're so clear on your brand now that everyone you hire is the best investment ever. Because you get it, they get it too, and they're able to get results without long briefs, heavy edits, or you spoon-feeding them and holding their hand.

  7. And the time you save on marketing (or should I say managing?), you use to work on the business and drive it forward – writing another bestseller, preparing an upcoming keynote, or being interviewed by the best people on the biggest platforms.

  8. Long gone are the days of pitching, because you're more mediagenic than ever. People come to you with offers you regularly refuse – not because they won't pay your asking rate, but because you have so many options to choose from.

  9. You're even getting the "wanky"/"douchey" things in life you used to judge yourself for wanting. Like the luxury bags, first-class flights, and private members' clubs people call materialistic and pretentious… until they can actually afford to buy them.

  10. But, just as importantly, you feel in alignment with the income you’re earning, because it’s directly correlated with the impact you’re making. It’s purposeful work that you’re paid for, but also are good at, love doing, and is what the world needs.

  11. And you really, truly feel more fulfilled and satisfied than ever. Coaching isn’t just your profession, it’s your vocation. It’s your passion, it’s your mission, and never do you ever feel like you’re selling your soul.

  12. Best yet, your calendar has so much white space for you to spend time with loved ones, having experiences and making memories. You can't stop pinching yourself that even the most ridiculous, impossible dreams – of yours and theirs – are coming true.

This is what business actually looks like with psycholinguistic branding and marketing.

Hire me as your strategist if this is where you want to be.

meet your mentor - meet your mentor - meet your mentor

hi, i'm dr. ness!

(a 3x award-winning psycholinguist turned personal brand and marketing strategist for coaches)

I've spent the last 20 years helping people build their brands – from Fortune 500 companies including Coca-Cola, Amazon, and Walt Disney, to celebrities, influencers, and the coaches I now work with exclusively.

My zone of genius is helping people get known for what they know, by elevating their brand perception and market reception through psychology and language. My clients don't just sell scalable offers – they sell their ideas, landing opportunities like book deals, TED Talks, and TV expert roles that get them inside people's minds and mouths.

Some of my clients in this space have included Natalie Ellis of Bossbabe, Brendon Burchard, and Tony Robbins, among many others. My work has been featured in Vogue, ELLE, Marie Claire, and Entrepreneur – and my debut book, Express Yourself, is to be published by Hay House soon, which has fairly recently been acquired by Penguin.

With a PhD in psychology and language, a postgraduate degree in education, five therapy qualifications, an ICF-accredited business coaching certification, marketing and sales qualifications, and NLP Master Practitioner status – I'm not someone who decided to call themselves an expert online. Like you, I've spent years becoming one.

And it'd be my pleasure and privilege to support you strategically so you can become a household name.

the distinctive communication method™

The proprietary framework that underlies – and will inform – everything we achieve together.

Leveraging psychology and language to shape how people perceive your brand and receive your marketing – so all your written and spoken words get you the exact results you want.

To go from one of many to one of a kind, you focus on two things: your branding (how you're perceived) and your marketing (how you're received). Get the branding right and your marketing has a foundation to build on. Get it wrong, and even your very best efforts will collapse.

here's what we can work on together:

01. positioning
FOCUS ON BEING DIFFERENT, NOT BETTER THAN THE COMPETITION – AND YOU CAN CREATE A CATEGORY ALL YOUR OWN.

To stand out, you need to occupy a distinct space in a prospect's mind – one that's different to, rather than better than, your competitors.

Position yourself as better than your competitors, and you'll always be fighting: first to reach the top, then to stay there. Position yourself as different enough, however, and you become a category-of-one coach – where comparison's impossible, and success is inevitable.

The best way to be seen uniquely, when you're solving the same problem as everyone else, is to have your own vehicle of transformation – your process. Turn it into a proprietary framework, and people stop asking who can get them from A to B cheaper or faster – because they can see you offer unique value throughout the journey itself.

But you don't have to change your offer's contents to stand out. You can just change its packaging. Case in point: Lululemon repositioned leggings – a basic commodity – into something people were happy to pay $100+ for. They did it by shifting the function from gymwear to something comfortable, yet fashionable enough to wear to yoga, the mall, or dinner. The premium price point was justified because leggings became an identity purchase – a way for women to signal disposable income and an aspirational lifestyle.

02. persona
YOUR BRAND PERSONA ISN'T YOUR WHOLE SELF ON DISPLAY – IT'S THE VERSION OF YOU BUILT TO EARN TRUST.

Most online coaches assume that because they've got a personal brand, their brand persona is just who they are as a human being. It isn't. It's how you present yourself professionally.

It's an easy mistake to make, in a culture built on oversharing. Spend five minutes on Instagram, and you'll see someone trauma-dumping, or performing vulnerability – while criticising their competitors for being inauthentic and out of integrity. I've personally watched a load of kind, generous people "express themselves" out of business, because they put the wrong things, or simply too much, out there. Which is exactly why I give my clients guardrails, so they don't accidentally damage their own credibility.

I do this with brand archetypes – considering who people are at home, and how they want to be perceived at work, in line with their differentiated positioning. That gives them a persona they can check every messaging and verbal identity decision against, so everything they write and say stays on-brand for their professional identity.

Mine, for example, is a Sage-Ruler-Lover, with a 60/30/10 split. The Sage is how I work – leading with education and experience. The Ruler is who I serve, and the transformation I offer – I'm here to help thought leaders build empires. The Lover's my tertiary note: the mindset piece – making people feel psychologically safe, emotionally connected, and self-accepting.

There are 132+ permutations this process produces, so it's rare that any two clients I work with end up with the same base profile. And of course, we always refine what we define – to identity-max, while maintaining commercial viability.

03. messaging
SAY IT CLEARLY, AND SIMPLY, OR DON'T BE SURPRISED WHEN PEOPLE STOP LISTENING AND DON'T BUY.

The industry's in a "trust recession" – buyers have grown sceptical, having seen too many empty promises, aggressive sales tactics, and low-quality programmes from other coaches. In response, people are being told to make their marketing more "sophisticated." Actually good advice – badly applied. Most coaches translate that into more complex, not more compelling.

Messaging-wise, that means loads of jargon and constant caveats, all in an effort to show off how much they know, and how woke they are. In reality, it's just about being honest, transparent, and direct – and, above all, clear and simple. Clear means people understand exactly what you do for them within a few seconds. Simple means you're not overloading their brain with too many ideas at once. Fail to be clear, and people won't get what you're saying. Fail to be simple, and they'll stop listening before you've finished.

People are buying. Just not from you – because you don't know how to communicate your offer. That's why, when you work with me, I'll help you dial in your "I help" statement and elevator pitch, your brand story and throughline, your value pillars and talking points – so you can stop confusing prospects, and losing customers because of it.

04. verbal identity
PEOPLE DON'T JUST RECOGNISE HOW YOU LOOK. THEY RECOGNISE HOW YOU SOUND… IF YOU'RE CONSISTENT WITH IT, THAT IS.

Because you're serious about scaling your coaching business, you need to be able to delegate and automate. But right now, people can clock when you've hired a copywriter, or used Claude. You definitely don't have the time or energy to be redoing other people's work 24/7, or scrubbing every AI tell out of your content. The truth is, no human – or bot – will ever get it right if you don't give them any real instructions.

The problem is, when people get their branding done, they go to a visual expert, not a verbal one. So they walk away with in-depth guidelines for keeping their look consistent, while anything for their sound is comparatively shallow. Usually, they're handed a set of adjectives to describe their voice – authoritative, aspirational, unapologetic, confident, empowering – or, if they're lucky, a list of dos and don'ts: yes to swearing, no to the word "girlboss."

You need to capture your voice, tone, grammar, and lexicon far more accurately and precisely, if you want anyone – or anything – to have a remote chance of passing as you. Which is why you won't leave my container without a full set of brand guidelines for your verbal identity – so you can not only actually outsource with confidence, but increase your differentiation, and improve your recognition, too.

05. attraction marketing
(TOP OF FUNNEL – GETTING THE RIGHT PEOPLE TO KNOW YOU.)
STOP CHASING TRENDS THAT MAY OR MAY NOT WORK. START STARTING THEM, USING THE PRINCIPLES OF VIRALITY INSTEAD.

Everyone tells you to "show up" on social media. Almost no one tells you how to actually catch on. That's why everyone's blasting out trial reels of the same seven seconds of B-roll, paired with a different hook every time. They have no idea what will or won't go viral, so they just place as many bets as possible.

But this "lottery mentality" dominating platforms right now is as exhausting as it is frustrating. Sure, a post might pop off – but that doesn't mean your account will, too. Posts with maximum reach usually have generic appeal (talking to everyone), while almost all your other content was created for one specific person.

One way around this is to follow trends – like butter-yellow text with the fisheye effect – but tweak them to target your actual market. The better way is to make virality predictable (and profitable), by learning what actually makes a message contagious.

When you work with me, we'll leverage principles like social currency, triggers, emotion, public visibility, practical value, and stories, to make sure your content actually gains traction. We'll also build in commonality across everything you create, so when people find you, they don't just visit – they stay.

06. nurture marketing
(MIDDLE OF FUNNEL – TURNING ATTENTION INTO TRUST.)
PERSPECTIVE BUILDS TRUST FASTER THAN EXPERTISE EVER WILL.

This is the stage every marketer gets wrong, because they think nurturing means giving value – and AI's made information accessible for free. That's why expertise isn't what earns trust nowadays. Perspective is. People want to know what you think, and how you feel – that you're a real person, with as much experience to share as education.

What's more, they don't just want to see you as an authority. They want to know you have empathy, too. One way to embody both is to market like a psychiatrist and a psychologist. A psychiatrist uses their IQ to treat patients – diagnosing and medicating, with little concern for bedside manner. A psychologist, on the other hand, can't usually prescribe – but uses their EQ to provide talk therapy instead.

As a coach, you practise with both head and heart. So that's exactly how you should warm your leads up, too. Yes, you need to show you know more about your subject than your ideal client does. But you also need to show you have the interpersonal skills required to actually facilitate a transformation for them.

07. conversion marketing
(BOTTOM OF FUNNEL – TURNING TRUST INTO A SALE.)
THE BEST PERSUASION TODAY IS THE KIND NOBODY CAN SPOT.

You're probably no stranger to direct-response copywriting, and its core frameworks, like AIDA (Attention, Interest, Desire, Action), which drive people toward the sale. They've been used for decades, for a reason – because they work. Or at least, they used to… until AI started over-indexing on them, and people started getting sus.

Take a scroll on social, and all you'll see is people slagging off formulaic copy. The "it's not X, it's Y" sentence structure (antithesis) is getting a particularly bad rap at the moment. But rules of three (tricolons), rhetorical pivot questions (hypophora), and fragment stacking (asyndeton) aren't necessarily signs someone's copy was AI-generated. It might just as easily be the work of a human who's – shock horror – actually rather good at it.

But shit like this is being spotted from a mile off now, and if you use it too often, you could lose the sale. Which is exactly why I'm still writing copy for clients in the age of AI. We still need linguistic devices – just ones that aren't popular yet, except among cognitive scientists like me – so the persuasion's less detectable. Or, better yet, invisible altogether.

"For 2 years I have struggled to describe who and what Grow & Glow is for - is it for influencers, small businesses, service-based businesses, product-based businesses, educators...?!

In one session Vanessa went BOOM - it’s for this person.
She has been an absolute star over the last couple of months working together on refining the messaging, and through our sessions so many new ideas and developments have come up. We've just got so many new aspects and changes coming to the membership that I just think is going to be so much more impactful and so much more valuable for our members."
VIX MELDREW online educator

"Honestly, before I met and worked with Ness my website copy and messaging in general were a bit of a mess! I guess I always kind of bootstrapped it but making the investment into consistent, intentional copy and messaging that converts has been a game changer to the confidence I have in showing up online. Having clarity on everything from my tone of voice to my content pillars makes me feel so much more legit in business! It’s helped me focus and niche down on exactly what I need to be putting out there to serve my unique audience and covert them into clients."

BRY PENNEY branding photographer + educator

want my hands as well as my brain?

This container is strategy only – you go ahead and execute.

But if you'd prefer someone not just to think alongside you, but to do alongside you – to bring what you've envisioned to life themselves – you can retain my time for that, too.

I've spent the past 10+ years working behind the scenes of your favourite coaches' businesses – writing their copy, creating their content, and working on their funnels, launches, digital products, books, and more.

client stories

"I cannot thank Vanessa enough for her wisdom and guidance in helping me to get greater clarity on my message. Her personality is the right balance of masculine and feminine energies for me which meant I felt safe and supported but accountable and empowered. At times it was like Vanessa was able to read my mind in her ability to articulate my message in a way that [...] sounded like me and the messages I had rattling around my head but could not clearly articulate! She is a super genius and I am grateful that I now have clear messaging that I am able to use to strengthen my marketing with my audience! Thank you again Vanessa"

DOMINIQUE MULLALLY profit + wealth coach

"When it came to communicating with potential clients so that they understood who I was and what I offered, I really struggled. Ness was able to dig into my business to understand who my ideal client is and how I best serve their pain points through my services. Then by learning my own tone of voice, Ness made it so obvious to me how I should be communicating to my targeted audience. I found Ness really easy to get along with and enjoyed her messaging process. I just felt understood and now, wether it’s emailing clients, having a sales call or writing an IG post. I’m constantly looking back over my messaging notes with Ness as they give me the confidence to shout out about my services allowing me to help others. If anybody is struggling on how to communicate effectively with potential clients like I was or needs more clarity with their brands messaging, I can’t stress enough the value Ness will bring by working with her."

ALEC PENNEY tech expert + service provider
